Kitchen

The difference in social status is already evident in the narrow kitchen doors: maids did not wear hoop skirts. Apart from a few images of popular saints and some Dutch faience tiles, the decoration in the kitchen is very austere. There is no sink. This is a “dry” kitchen, where food was prepared on the open hearth or on the eight charcoal fires. The adjoining “wet” kitchen housed the pump and was used for washing.
